The Q&A Archives: hibiscus buds falling off

Question: i have a lot of buds that are falling off the bush before the flower blooms. what pesticide do i need to use? anything organic?

Answer: Dorothy,

It may be due to stress, a fungal disease of the blooms or possibly an insect damaging the blooms. I suggest you place a few of the blooms in a sip close bag and take them to your County Extension Office and see if they can identify the problem and if necessary prescribe an appropriate remedy. It may just be a stressed plant in need of some deep watering and not require a spray at all.
