Marathon is a tall fescue grass with a very deep root system (as deep as 6' once established), which makes it extremely drought tolerant. Tall fescues (Marathon included) spreads by rhizomes. A rhizome is an underground creeping stem or runner that extends outward from the main plant. The rhizome will send a shoot up to the soil surface while extending new roots downward, forming a new plant. Hope this answers your question. |
