Lower fronds turning yellow may be due to a variety of reasons, including over or underwatering, a sudden change in conditions, such as sun exposure, or the plant using up nutrients in the soil or becoming rootbound and needing to be transplanted into the ground or a larger pot. You can download a free publication on palm care, including planting, from the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension at the following site:

Good luck!
