What is best to amend a large area of SE Fl tropical sandy soil that does not drain or retain nutrients. Mulch doesn't integrate in to the sand. A load of topsoil?
Thank you Ruth Marx

Ruth,

Some soil is fine but there should be quite a bit of compost in the soil mix. Adding a finely screened compost is a great way to improve sandy soils. In time it decomposes away and some some periodic adding of more will be needed.
