| Hello. We have a 4 ft fence on a corner(black, aluminum) and would like to put shrubs/bushes in for privacy and landscape. I want to put shrubs on outside of fence as not to eat up my back yard (it is small), but I only have about 2 feet forward to the sidewalk on the outside of the fence. I also want something that is dense, possibly colorful, Is there such a thing as 'low bee attraction?' because it is on the sidewalk and people are always walking by, and I have small children that play in back. .I am looking for a shrub that will spread side to side as the length of the fence is about 20 feet, I just dont have much room for it to grow forward. Do you have any suggestions? Or should I just go with evergreen like the neighbors? Thank you so much! Staci Mond |
| What you describe will be a difficult spot for plants to grow. Not only is the area narrow, but the black aluminum will collect and radiate heat during the summer months. You might try Nandina (heavenly bamboo), which can be pruned into a narrow upright shrub, or something naturally tall and narrow such as Skyrocket Juniper. Wish I had more suggestions! |
