I have plum tomatoes planted in planters on my deck. They are red, hard and have green pointed bottoms. Please let me know why they are hard and have pointed green bottoms. Thank you.

Tomatoes ripen from the inside out but the color won't develop in temperatures over 86F, which can pose a problem in hot summer areas. I'd pick a few to take indoors. Leave them on the kitchen counter, or in a cupboard where temperatures are between 65F and 70F. They'll turn red in just a few days.
