I have been trying and trying to raise rhubarb but when the hot days come on to us they die. I water at night every other day and still cannot get one pass through the hot summers here in Missouri. |
Some rhubarb varieties are more tolerant of heat and humidity than others. You may have a variety that is not tolerant and no matter what you do, it won't produce edible stalks. You may want to try planting one of the following heat-tolerant varieties recommended by the University of Missouri: McDonald Sutton Valentine (Produces fewer seed stalks than McDonald) Canada Red (Stalks dark red throughout, vigorous) Victoria (Stalks red, lighter than Canada Red) |
