Pyrus calleryana is a rounded or pyramidal shaped deciduous tree. It needs full sun all day and average or better soil. It flowers in the spring with showy white flowers but does not bear edible fruit. Most cultivars would be in the 25 to 35 foot range with attractive fall coloring. Ornamental pears are sometimes subject to fireblight infection and those with narrow branch angles tend to break apart in winter ice storms.

The following web page includes descriptions of four popular cultivars for more detail. Select the letter P and then scroll down the alphabetical listing to Pyrus calleryana. (You may need to cut and paste the complete url into your browser to make it work correctly.)
