Crickets? - Knowledgebase Question

While cutting my lawn grass a noticed an invasion of crickets, hmaybe in the hundred or more. What can I do to get rid of them. Where are they coming from?

In general, crickets would not be considered a pest that needs to be controlled unless they are coming into your home in large numbers. You might want to take a look at the following page and make sure that what you are seeing is crickets and not something else such as grasshoppers. (You may need to cut and paste the complete url into your browser to make it work correctly.)

If you feel the numbers are truly excessive and they do not dissipate in a few days, you could consult with your local Ohio cooperative extension. If a chemical control is needed, they will have the most up to date information on what to use and how/what time of year is the best to apply it.
