When and how do you plant leek seeds, and what care do they need? |
Leeks are cool-season plants and are grown much like onions. Direct sow them into a rich, well-drained garden soil, at a depth of 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch deep and 1-2 inches apart. To maintain the white color, mound soil up around the leek as it grows, or pile straw or other material around the maturing leeks. Harvest when the leeks are one-inch or more in diameter. |
