It is not unusual for mushrooms to come up in your lawn during the fall season. There are decomposing fungi turning organic matter back into soil which "fruit" during the late summer and fall with the arrival of fall rains this pushing up mushrooms like you described in your lawn. There is not a good way to control them and the best option is simply to ignore them and go over them.
