Are there male and female flowers? I gathered a lot of pollen from the flowers, but could not find any female flowers to pollinate. The whole vine had male flowers. |
Squash plants do have male and female flowers. Usually the first flowers to open on squash and pumpkin vines are male flowers. They open early in the season and are there to attract insects to the plant. Female flowers follow, and are usually pollinated as soon as they open because insects have already made it a habit to visit the plant. Don't worry - the vines will produce female flowers in a few days. |
