I just had an area cleared and I put down a two to three inch layer of good quality top soil. I then seeded the area and it came up pretty well.....one question though..... I would like to help it out by fertilizing but don't know if that's a good idea or if I should wait....any suggestions? |
Whether or not to fertilize will depend on the fertility in the soil and whether or not you fertilized when you planted the seed. (You do not want to overfertilize, this would do more harm than underfertilizing.) If you have not already done so, I would suggest you run some basic soil tests to check fertility and pH of the soil and then fertilize, if needed, based on the test results. Your local Rutgers county extension should be able to help you with the testing and interpreting the results. |
