The Q&A Archives: Perennials for Shade

Question: What perennials would do well in my shady garden during our hot, steamy summers?

Answer: Foxgloves (Digitalis) will tolerate shade and are hardy in your area. Other choices include navelwort (Omphalodes cappadocica), blue lungwort (Pulmonaria angustifolia), pinkroot (Spigelia marilandica), bellwort (Uvularia grandiflora) and sweet violets (Viola odorata).
