Shrub roses are the easiest to grow in any climate. They are quite disease-hardy and long-blooming, and many are fragrant as well. They can be grown as hedges or mass plantings. Look for the Bonica series or the Flower Carpet series, which are available in several colors. Burpee carries a beautiful pink Bonica rose that blooms all summer on 4- to 5-foot high plants.
