Buddleia officinalis the best butterfly bush for Florida. It tolerates the heat and humidity best. Butterfly bush flowers attract butterflies because of their nectar. If the butterflies think it is a suitable spot, they will lay eggs, which will hatch into caterpillars. So yes, a butterfly bush will have caterpillars on it. They will feed on the leaves for a short time before they pupate. I think it's a small price to pay for the butterflies you'll have in your garden. Enjoy!
