I recently was given a very young gardenia and am keeping it indoors. I wanted to know what you would suggest for food and acidic-fertilizers. Thanks!

Your gardenia will appreciate an acidified fertilizer. Feed regularly but lightly during active growth periods (spring and summer) with a water soluble fertilizer for acid loving plants. I use a half-strength solution of Miracid, Peter's Miracle-Gro or Shultz's every 3 weeks from April through September. This assures the plant roots are feed continuously, but not overfed. Check the label also to make sure it includes micronutrients or "minors" to assure a broad based supply of minerals.

Best wishes with your gardenia!
