| Many people use commonly-available cool-white fluorescent bulbs for starting their seedlings. They are inexpensive, and mimic fairly closely the range of light wavelengths of sunlight. What it cannot mimic is the sun's light intensity, which is far, far greater than any light bulb. Some people like to use special grow-lights--sold specially for growing plants. It mimics even more closely the sun's light. Since these are simply forms of fluorescent lights, there should be no danger--at least no more than visiting your local department store or office! |
