I have Little Hobber hostas which I planted mid spring. By summer, they looked so-so & some flowered. But in mid/late August the leaf edges looked tattered, withered, and turned orange and yellow. None of the other plants, incl. hostas, did that. Can you explain or should I try to contact the nursery where purchased for feedback? |
Your Little Hobber hostas sound as though they are getting too much exposure to the elements. These hostas thrive in rich, moist, well draining soils, in areas protected from direct sunshine and wind. I'd move them to a more protected area (under camelias, rhodendrons or other large shrubs). This should shield them from the elements and make them perform to their full potential. |
