what does the term mean mean to pinch back?how do you do it? |
Pinching back is relatively simple. When you pinch out a growing tip you encourage the plant to branch out and become fuller. I use my thumb and forefinger and pinch a plant stem just a half-inch or so from the tip with my fingernails. You could also use pruners, but it's faster and easier for me to use my fingernails. Everywhere you pinch (or cut), the stem will develop two shoots where there once was only one. Hope this clarifies things for you! |
