| Cashew (Anacardium occindentale) is a native of South and Central America. It is a small to medium size evergreen tree which is grown commercially to a modest degree in Florida. The fruit, or cashew apple, that surrounds the nut is sweet and can be eaten fresh. It is difficult to harvest the nut, as a toxic, oily fluid lies between the inner and outer shell. No, I would not imagine they could be coerced into accepting the cold climate of upstate New York! |
