I pulled some macho ferns from one area of my yard to another and put them in the soil , but the leaves have mostly wilted , though i have watered them .Should I cut the wilted leaves and twigs and wait , or are they a lost cause ? what do you recommend?

Robert,

Give them a little more time if they are still wilted. They should by now have either perked up or turned brown after which point you can cut them back to the ground. Try to maintain moist but not soggy wet soil conditions for best results.
