| I transplanted some macho ferns. They seem to have lost their leaves should i cut the fronds left and continue watering and wait for new growth . Or should I just give up on them and buy new fern plants? |
| Robert, Sorry for the delayed reply to your questions. Cut those fronds back that are still looking bad and water only enough to keep the soil moist. Make sure the ferns are in a bright but shady spot. Too much sun is too much stress for them. They may have dried out too much when they were initially dug and replanted. In the future works some compost or peat moss into the soil in their new planting area and moisten it well prior to planting. Then water after planting to soak the plants in and afterward try to just keep moist. Hopefully they will return from new fronds emerging from the soil, but it may take a while as they don't grow until the weather is warm. |
