The Q&A Archives: When to cut back

Question: When should I cut back my dahlia?

Answer: You can remove the tops of your dahlia plants after frost has killed them back. Cut them down to ground level and then mulch over the crown of the plant to protect the roots. In the spring, new tops will grow from the underground rhizomes.

Best wishes with your garden!
