Petunias are annual plants. Plan on replacing them each spring and they should fill your yard with color all summer long. At the end of the summer, pull the plants out of the garden. You could replace them with a cool season annual such as pansies and then replace the pansies with fresh new petunias in the spring.

Best wishes with your garden.
