The Q&A Archives: Removing shrubs and the roots from the garden

Question: How do I remove shrubs and their roots from the yard? They have grown so big you cant see the house from the road.

Answer: Depending on what kinds of shrubs you have, pulling them out and digging out most of the roots may be sufficient. You could however paint the cut ends with an herbicide containing glyphosate. To be sure, I would suggest you check with your local county extension. They should be able to help you identify the shrubs and can suggest additional steps if necessary. They may appreciate a photo of the different plants to help identify them. Good luck with your project!
