When do you suggest I start seeding my lawn with Bermuda seed? Would St augustine be better? I do have a Dog who really enjoys running on the lawn. I have winter rye right now. I started from dirt. Thanks Angela in El Monte, CA

The major difference between bermuda and St. Augustine is the texture: bermuda is soft on bare feet; St. Augustine is not. If texture matters to you, bermuda is best. And, it's available in either seed or sod; St. Augustine is only available in sprigs or sod.

Springtime is best for seed planting. Wait until early March to overseed your lawn.

Best wishes with your new lawn!
