Will clematis grow in the desert climate of Truth or Consequences, NM and what variety would do best? I have a stucco archway where I would like a flowering vine.

Clematis prefers a rich, cool, humus-rich soil--I think it would be difficult to cultivate one in your region. Better choices might be trumpet honeysuckle (Lonicera sempervirens) or trumpet creeper (Campsis radicans).
