The Q&A Archives: Dracaena Sanderiana

Question: The cane on my plant is yellowing. What am I doing wrong & what can I do to save it?

Answer: Your lucky bamboo may be developing a bacterial infection. It's important to change the water every week or two to combat this problem. I don't know how involved your plant is and whether or not it can be saved, but I'd recommend thoroughly cleaning the container (use bleach, then wash with hot soapy water and rinse well), then fill it with fresh water and return your dracaena to the container. Dump the water out each week and refill with fresh water.

Best wishes with your dracaena!
