I live in central Ohio and last year during the summer I noticed quite a few places that had a plant (could be a shrub) with enormous, vibrant red flowers and dark green large leaves. Just beautiful. I do not know what these are. Do you think you might know from my description? Thanks

Without a more complete description - shrub growth habit, sun or shade, leaf shape and flower shape and size, I can only offer educated guesses as to what the shrub might be. The most spectacular red flowering shrubs in Ohio include climbing roses, Weigela 'Red Prince', Hydrangea 'flamboyant' and Leptospermum 'ruby glow'. Hope one of these is the plant in question!
