How do we care for the bulbs in zone 9? Do you have to dig them up yearly?

Your bulbs will need to be dug and stored, then pre-cooled prior to replanting in the fall. If you leave them in the ground they won't produce roots and won't come up next year.

Dig, then place your bulbs in a large paper bag or a box. Or, you can store them in vermiculite, peat, sand, or a combination of those. Place the bag or box in a cool place. About 10 weeks before it's time to plant, place the bag or box in the refrigerator. The bulbs will begin to develop roots. At the end of the cooling treatment, plant them in the ground and they should flower beautifully for you next spring.

Best wishes with your bulbs!
