| You should dig a hole slightly deeper and wider than the container your Indian Hawthorn is growing in. Loosen the soil in the bottom and the sides of the hole so the roots can establish quickly. The idea is to plant it so it will be at the same soil level as it was growing in the container (don't plant too deep or too shallow). When you take the pot off, loosen the roots slightly if they appear to be growing around and around in a circle. If they roots are not circling, you won't need to loosen the root ball but can simply place it in the hole as is. Backfill with the soil you took out of the hole and gently tamp it down to remove any air pockets, then water well to help settle the soil. Best wishes with your hawthorn! |
