| I would like to know if I can root a BOUGAINVILLEA. I do a lot of flowers/plants from cuttings? Lawn man cut it off and I hate to throw away, if I can re root it. I am very new to this plant. Thank you.... |
| You can root bougainvillea cuttings in moist earth or potting soil. Take a 5-6" cutting from the tip of a branch (one that has new growth). Remove the lower leaves, dip the cut end in rooting hormone (available at garden centers), place the cut end in moistened potting soil so at least 2 nodes (scars where leaves once were) are buried in the potting soil. Keep the soil moist but not soggy wet and keep the cuttings in a place protected from direct sunshine. Cuttings should root in 4-5 weeks and you should see new growth. Give the cuttings a month or two to develop a substantial root system then either repot or replant directly in the ground. Best wishes with your project! |
