When do you know when to transplant watermelon and cucumbers to the outside garden? |
Kate, I apologize for this delayed reply to your gardening question. The spring rush has brought a deluge of questions and we are working hard to catch up! In your area watermelons and cucumbers can be planted outside starting in mid March on through April. In fact you can plant watermelons on through mid-summer if you wish. If using transplants don't let them grow very long before setting them out into the garden. They don't do well if allowed to become "pot bound" in the growing container. It usually takes about three or four weeks from seeds to transplant size, depending on growing conditions. Thanks for the question. Best wishes for a wonderful gardening season. Please stop in again soon! |
