I LIVE NEXT TO A FAIRWAY ON A GOLF COURSE IN AZ. THEY WATER EVERY OTHER DAY. THE WATER SPRAYS ALONG MY FENCE LINE AND HAS KILLED MY TEXAS RANGER SHRUBS DUE TO EXCESSIVE MOISTURE. IS THERE SUCH THING AS A WATER TOLERANT SHRUB?? DO YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS ON WHAT I COULD PLANT ALONG THE FENCE??

THANK YOU-([email protected])

Yours is a challenging situation. There are not many plants adapted to the desert heat that like constant moisture. In fact, soggy soils can suffocate the roots of almost all but plants adapted to boggy areas. It may be that you'll have to build a raised planter to keep your shrubs high and dry. With that said, the following plants have reputations for requiring lots of water, and they are tolerant of our desert summer heat and sunshine:
Aquilegia chrysantha (Yellow Columbine)
Carex pansa California (Meadow Sedge)
Carex perdentata T(exas Meadow Sedge
Cortaderia selloana 'pumila' (Dwarf Pampas Grass)
Drosanthemum speciosum 'rosea' Iceplant
Duranta erecta 'sweet memory' Golden Dew Drop
Erigeron karvinskia 'profusion' (Santa Barbara Daisy)
Gaura lindheimeri 'siskiyou' (Pink Gaura)
Hibiscus x 'moy grande'
Lonicera x americana (Pam's Pink Honeysuckle)
Muhlenbergia capillaris (Muhlenbergia)
Panicum virgatum 'prairie sky' (Switch Grass high)
Plumbago scandens (Summer Snow)
Podranea ricasoliana (Pink Trumpet Vine)
Ruselia equisteiformis (Coral Fountain)
Saccharum ravennaie (Ravenna Grass)
Stachys coccinea (Texas Betony)
Symphotrichum praeltum (Rodney's Aster)
Ulmus parvifolia semperviren (Evergreen Elm) a tree but can be sheared into a hedge
Vetiveria zizanioides (Vetiver)
Vitis californica 'roger red' (Red California Grape)

Hope this list is helpful!
