How does one do a thorough job of turning and preparing the soil when it is full of bulbs and perennials?

VERY CAREFULLY! We SHOULD have done that before planting the bulbs and perennials...I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume someone ELSE planted this perennial bed! Smiling

As you dig a new hole for each new plant or shrub, do avery good job of adding all the proper amendments. If there's nothing growing right close to where this new plant will go...venture out a bit and work that soil as well.
