I think you're supposed to fertilize in fall but, I didn't. Can I fertilize my garden now with store-bought dried cow manure, before I plant it? Will it damage my plants when they start to grow? |
You can add dried cow manure any time. It's a fairly stable soil amendment, and won't harm your plants. If you were to use fresh manure or another high-nitrogen fertilizer, that's where you can get into trouble. The highly-soluble nitrogen can harm plant roots. So go ahead and add the dried manure; just be sure to incorporate it into the soil. It will give the plants a good spring "kick"! |
