Aphids are sometimes called plant lice because they colonize a plant within a few short days. You can hose them off or use an insecticidal soap (such as Safer's). Spraying with insecticidal soap will control aphids. Spray first thing in the morning after the plant?s been well watered. This will minimize burning to the foliage. Be sure to spray the plant thoroughly, including the undersides of the leaves where the pests are feeding.
