The Q&A Archives: wild grass

Question: I have burmuda grass that is just comming alive, but while dorment some wild grass has grown throught out the yard. Its very green and when it reaches a certain length it starts to germannate. I would like to know what kind of grass it is, and how to control it while my burmuda is dorment, and how to get rid if whats already grown?

Answer: Deron,

I can't guess as to the identity of the wild grass. I suggest you take a sample to your County Extension Office for them to identify. They could then prescribe the right product or technique and timing for that particular weed. Most likely your mystery grass is a cool season grass that is going to be disappearing for the warm season anyway.
