| I have a flower bed that is about 25 feet long, and about 2 feet wide. What are the best perennials that will bloom during the summer and fall? It faces the north side of my house. I was also wondering how it would look starting out with some small plants in the front of the bed, and working up to tall perennials in the background. |
| It really depends on the look you want--how casual, formal, etc. Also, I'll assume the garden itself gets good sun, even though it faces the north side of the house. Here are a few suggestions: Bee balm butterfly weed coreposis daylily purple coneflower rudbeckia (Black-eyed Susans and others) Shasta daisies Verbena Yarrow I would plant in small groupings, rather than in straight rows. Concentrate the taller groupings toward the back, shorter toward the front. You might mix in some annual flowers this year, since your perennials will take some time to get established. Good luck! |
