Is there a type of weed control that is not harmful to pets? I have chickweed everywhere in my backyard, but don't want to put something down that will harm my dogs.

Weed and Feed products are not safe to use on lawns where pets will walk and play so the best course of action is to dig out the existing weeds and then apply a corn gluten based pre-emergent (marketed under several trade names - the main ingredient is corn gluten meal and it will say safe for pets on the label). Apply the corn gluten meal and it will keep weed seeds from germinating.

Best wishes with your lawn and with your pets!
