What kind of fig tree is best for my area and should I plant more than one?

National Gardening Magazine did a feature article on growing figs, and profiled 28 different varieties! These sound like they'd be best options for you: 'Mission', 'Nero' and 'Osborn Prolific'. They are self-fruitful, so you don't need more than one for them to produce fruit. The article provides great information on planting and care - check it out at:
