Our grass is starting to turn green, but we have some very large brown areas that appear to be dead grass. What should we do first?

The first order of business is to rake out the dead areas. Remove the debris from the areas and then reseed. New grass should pop up in 7-10 days if you keep the area well watered. In a month or so the new grass will blend into your existing grass and you'll barely notice there was a problem.

Best wishes with your lawn!
