The Q&A Archives: Snow Peas

Question: What are Snow Peas? Is this just another term for "early peas"? If they are a different variety of peas, please explain the difference between Snow Peas and other varieties of peas. Thank you. Rick Wood Mission, KS

Answer: Snow peas often refer to the edible podded peas that you often find in Chinese stir fries. You grow the plant the same way as English peas, but you harvest the pods while they are still flat. If you let them form peas they tend to taste tough and bland. A good variety top try is 'Oregon Sugar Pod II'..
