I have a holly tree that we had to move for a remodeling project. I guess that plus last summer's heat and dryness has taken it's toll. The top half looks dead that bottom still has it's leaves--should I cut the top half off?

You can prune away the dead parts of the tree. It should develop new growth later this spring. Eventually it will grow upwards and out but it will probably look more squat than upright as it did in the past. Best wishes with your landscape!
