my grandma lives in california and has a loquat tree in her yard I want to get a tree to grow in utah but was curious if it would make it through the winter where she lives there is no snow and here there well is a lot of snow.

Loquat japonica is hardy only to about zone 7. You're in zone 5b so you could grow one in a container and take it indoors during the winter months to protect it. It might be worth a try....
