What is difference between Perennials, Annuals and are there any other classifications?

An annual grows from seed, blooms, sets seed, and dies all in one season. A perennial lives for three years or more and while it may bloom and set seed each year, it comes back from the roots. A biennial grows from seed the first year, winters over, then grows, blooms, sets seed, and dies the second year.
