Wondering what kind of fertilizer would be best for our 6' Ponderosa Pine Tree. It doesn't look as healthy as our australian pines. Thanks, Heather |
Ponderosa pines typically do not need feeding; they pull what they need from the soil. You can use an 8-8-8 or evergreen plant food, but excessive nitrogen may encourage an already fast-growing tree to put on lots of new but weak growth. I'd wait to see how the tree looks this summer before deciding to feed. It might be that it is stressed from the winter weather and perhaps lack of water and that's why it looks a bit off color. Water deeply once each week and see if that doesn't help it recover and look more robust. Best wishes with your landscape! |
