The Q&A Archives: Mango Tree

Question: I planted 2 Mangos last year and they have started to sprout. One of them was going fine and now the leaves are sagging and the new leaves are falling off and kind of yellowish any help?

Answer: It sounds like a vascular problem - perhaps the soil doesn't drain well enough or you've been overwatering. Check the soil moisture content before you water and when you do water, water thoroughly. Start by digging down near the roots of the plant; if the soil is moist you can wait 3-4 days before checking again; if the soil is dry, water deeply. Your mango will probably need to be watered deeply once each week during the growing season. Once you adjust the watering, your mango should recover.

Best wishes with your trees.
