Answer: Indeed there are -- anything you can grow on a fence is considered space-saving, since plants take up vertical rather than ground space. Try cukes, pole beans, squash and peas on a trellis. There are also bush varieties of cukes (pg. 67 of spring catalog), Sugar Bon peas (pg. 78), Bushkin pumpkin (pg. 82), Sweet Zuke Hybrid zucchini (pg. 84), Burpee's Bush Table Queen acorn squash. These varieties are relatively smaller than standard ones, but can still take up quite a bit of ground. You can always grow veggies in large containers, too, and they can be quite ornamental. Enjoy!
